Teenage pregnancy is a very alarming problem in our community. Especially in our country. Now that many young people enter into a relationship they don't know how to handle because of their very young age . According to a research every 7.3 million girls under 18 give birth.It affects their health and education .The Philippines has the second highiest teenage  pregnancy rate in Southeast  Asia at 6% . In a statement on Sunday, Popcom cited the latest data  from the Philippine Statistics Authority which revealed that Filipino minors who gave birth in 2019 increased  from 62,431 in 2018. In 2019 ,2,411 girls considered as very young adolescents aged 10 to  14 gave birth or almost 7 everyday .

HOW DOES TEENAGE PREGNANCY AFFECT GIRLS ?

Adolescent pregnancy remains a major contributor to maternal child mortality . Complications relating to pregnancy and childbirth are leading cause of death for girls aged 15 to 19 globally.Pregant girls and adolescents also face other health risk and complications due to their immature bodies.Babies born to younger mother's are also at greater risks .For many adolescent pregnancy and childbirth are neither planned , nor wanted .In counties where abortion is prohibited or highly restricted , adolescent typically resort to unsafe abortion , putting their health and lives at risk.Some 3.9 million unsafe abortions occur each year to girls aged 15-19 in developing regions.

OTHER FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO ADOLESCENT PREGNANCY

Approximately 90% of births to girls aged 15-19 in developing countries occur within early marriage where there is often an I'm balance of power,no access to cotraception and pressure on girls to prove their fertility.Factors such as parental income and extent of a girl's education also contribute.Girls who have received minimal education are five times more likely to become a mother than those with highier levels of education . Pregnant girls  often drop out of school,limiting  opportunities for future employment and perpetuating the cycle of poverty.In many cases,girls percieve pregnancy to be a better option than continuing their education.

WHAT CAUSES TEENAGE PREGNANCY?

•Lack of information about sexual and reproductive health and rights .

•Inadequate access to services tailored to young people.

•Family , Community,and Social pressure to marry.

•Sexual violence

•Child early and forced marriage which can be both a cause and a consequence.

•Lack of education or dropping out of school .

Adolescent pregnancies are global problem but occur most often in poorer and marginalized communities .Many girls face considerable  pressure to marry early and become mothers while they are still a child . Teenage pregnancy increases when girls are denied the right to make decisions about their sexual and reproductive health and well-being .Girls must be able to make their own decisions about their bodies and  futures  and have access to appropriate healthcare services and education.

PROPER WASTE DISPOSAL

The most common problem of our community is garbage . Because it can be seen everywhere . Students even elders use to throw garbage everywhere .If only you look around you'll see the proof of this problem.Thats why I'm encouraging everyone to help clean our community Waste segregation is important as it makes the process of recycling easier. Improper waste segregation can create chronic health problems ,so  it's important to dispose of and segregate the waste to reduce the chance of mixing hazardous waste with domestic waste.Waste sorting is separated into different elements .Waste sorting can occur manually at the household and collected through  curbside collection schemes , or automatically separated in materials recover facilities or mechanical biological treatment systems .

There are 3 proper waste management :the reduce ,reuse and recycle.In order to keep as much material out of the landfill as possible ,it's important for each of us to do  our part.One of the ways to put that plan into action is  through the 3 RS of waste management.REDUCE ,REUSE, RECYCLE.

If you are an incoming grade 11 student and you are wondering what track would you choose because you are still undecided what course you want to choose in the future .Then the General Academic Strand is best for you.

WHAT IS GAS?

The general academic strand or GAS is one of the four strands of the academic track for  senior high school .Unlike the other  career - specific strands,GAS is designed for students who are not  decided yet on what course  they want to take in college.

WHAT IS THE HARDEST STRAND IN SHS?

Many people especially the students thought that Science, To, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) is probably the most difficult strand in senior high school.So it is best to choose GAS as strand because it makes us ready for future purposes .We can be very aware what to choose course after senior high school.
